A Lee County native is moving up in the business world with her own computer software training company near Milwaukee.
Phyllis Shumpert-Davis, the daughter of James and Jean Shumpert of Verona, is the owner and founder of Micro-systems Software Training Associates. MSTA is a minority owned and operated computer software training company located in Hales Corners, Wis.
Shumpert-Davis received her high school diploma from Tupelo High School in 1983 and earned a bachelor of science degree from Jackson State University in 1987. She started her training company in 1991 after gaining several years of experience in the field of computer science.
Her company has obtained major contracts for training service from nationally-known clients such as AMOCO and In-Sink-Erator.
Shumpert-Davis continues to expand her business by looking for outstanding and qualified trainers with the ability to deliver quality training and superior customer service.
Shumpert-Davis and her husband, Jeff Davis, a private investigator, have been married for five years. She is the stepmother of a 13-year-old girl, Natalie.
Jean Shumpert said the Shumpert family is proud of Phyllis for her success. Mrs. Shumpert added that her daughter gains inspiration for her career from the Bible, especially in Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
