FULTON – After nearly two years, Itawamba County’s afterschool program, A Way Out, has closed its doors.
The program, which at its peak provided tutoring and activities for more than 80 Itawamba County students, was forced to cease operations earlier this school year.
According to director/co-founder Kenneth McKinney, the closing was unfortunate, but necessary – simply a matter of logistics: too time consuming to keep the program afloat without additional help, but not enough money to hire the additional help that was needed.
McKinney said he hopes the program will reopen in January.
