The Aberdeen Board of Aldermen voted 4-1 to raise rates for customers with the Aberdeen Electric Company.
The rate increase will happen October 1, 2010 and April 1, 2011. Both increases will be two percent.
The motion was made after a TVA representative suggested that the board support the increase. Ward 3 Alderman David Ewing voted against the motion.
The representative said the increase is needed due to a cash-flow problem at the electric department.
