Aberdeen man turns himself in on theft of electricity charge

Aberdeen resident Ricky Garth has turned himself in to officers with the Aberdeen Police Department according to Chief Henry Randle. Garth was arrested late Friday afternoon. He was charged with felonious theft of electricity.

Garth has alluded authorities for two weeks after a warrant was issued for his arrest January 22. Garth is expected to be transported to the Monroe County Detention Center.

Garth is the sixth person to be arrested since an investigation was launched into alleged corruption within the Aberdeen Electric Department.

According to a spokesperson with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Garth’s bond has not been set.
