ABERDEEN – Lawbreakers in Aberdeen soon will have the opportunity to work off fines owed to the city.
Aberdeen Police Chief Henry Randle said it will be a win-win for both those who can’t afford to pay their fines as well as the city of Aberdeen.
“This program will allow people that can’t afford to pay their fines an opportunity to do so by working for city departments,” Randle said. “We can have them mow grass and do other work that is needed for the city. This will give the city extra labor at no cost.”
Randle, who will be in charge of the program, said he will discuss the matter with Municipal Judge Adrian Haynes and he hopes to have it implemented soon.
