ABERDEEN — The idea of Thursday’s town hall meeting is to give citizens the opportunity to not only voice their concerns, but to give them the opportunity of proactively solving them through more participation.
“We’re going to be sharing ideas about the past, present and future so we know what direction to take the town from here,” said Mayor Cecil Belle.
There is no set agenda for the meeting, but subjects Belle wants to touch on are the different programs available for the citizens to participate in including advisory boards to help move the Aberdeen Housing Authority and Aberdeen Animal Shelter forward.
“We want to allow the people to start generating ideas for the city so after the meeting, we can hopefully step back and let the citizens take the lead on projects,” Belle said.
Belle will let the citizens decide how often future town hall meetings will be held in the city. Thursday’s meeting is from 6 until 8 p.m. at City Hall.
