Accident in Aberdeen leaves Tupelo woman dead

A Tupelo woman died after a one car accident Sunday morning, according to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley.

Jessica Sheree Jones, 27, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday after an accident on Highway 45 North-1/2 mile south of the Highway 8 and 45 intersection in Aberdeen, according to a press release from Gurley.

Jones was in a Nissan Maxima that was traveling north on Hwy. 45 when apparently control was lost of the vehicle. It then ran through the median, crossed the southbound lane and flipped ejecting Jessica Jones and another person from the vehicle. Jessica Jones was found dead near the vehicle by a person who stopped after seeing lots of debris in highway.

The other person was taken directly to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. His condition is unknown, according to Gurley.

The accident is still under investigation by the Monroe County Coroner’s
Office and the Aberdeen Police Department. At this time it’s not clear who was driving the vehicle, but it belonged to Jessica Jones.
