MUSCLE SHOALS – Muscle Shoals City schools superintendent Jeff Wooten is among the finalists for a similar position in Tupelo and Oxford, according to a report today in The Times Daily Florence, Ala., newspaper.

The newspaper reported Wooten will interview a second time with Tupelo school board.

The search for Tupelo’s next school superintendent is down to three finalists, the Daily Journal previously reported.

Board members recently completed interviews of seven candidates and have narrowed the list to two Mississippi candidates and one from outside the state.

Tupelo Board President Amy Heyer said earlier the board is still keeping their names confidential because candidates have said they would withdraw if they were revealed at this point of the search.

Wooten, 51, is scheduled to interview in Oxford Friday for the first time and is one of five candidates, the report said.

Wooten has been superintendent of Muscle Shoals schools for the past decade, according to the newspaper.
