PHIL CAMPBELL, Ala. – A 65-year-old Alabama man moving into a new home after being displaced by April’s tornadoes was killed when the truck he was driving plunged into a ravine.

The TimesDaily of Florence reports that James Kenneth Howard Sr, died when he apparently lost control of the truck and trailer about 10 miles south of Russellville on Friday.

Franklin County Coroner Elize Malone said he was pronounced dead at the scene. Malone said he died from blunt force trauma. He was ejected from the truck.

Phil Campbell Police Chief Merrell Potter said Howard, a retired truck driver, was moving into a new home after being displaced by the April 27 tornadoes. He died the day before what would have been his birthday.
