CORINTH – The Crossroads Arena received approval Monday from the Alcorn County Board of Supervisors to pay a cost overrun of $46,500 for extensive repairs to the arena foundation and drainage system.
The board approved the payment in addition to a previously approved maximum of $355,000 for the projects, to be paid out of bond payment funds. Under state law those funds, which accumulate to pay the note on the arena from the arena’s half of the 2 percent tourism tax, may be used for capital projects.
Attorney Bill Odom, representing the arena board, is expected to ask the Corinth board for similar approval at its meeting today, since the arena is jointly owned by the city and county.
