Alcorn Co. gets rescue drivers

CORINTH — A new rescue team is ready to go underwater for safety in Alcorn County.

The Alcorn County Emergency Management Agency recently formed the county’s first dive team with six certified SCUBA search and rescue divers.

The team successfully completed all course work and confined and open water dives to obtain open water certification through the Professional Association of Dive Instructors.

The team will assist law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services in water emergencies and will be able to assist in neighboring counties, as well.

Team Leader Jonathan Rider told The Daily Corinthian the group is undergoing rigorous training in order to prepare for emergency responses.
