CORINTH – The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an inmate death in the Alcorn County Jail late Sunday.

The death of Michael Frazier, 31, of County Road 760, was an apparent suicide, said Doug Mullins, warden of the Alcorn County Regional Jail.

Frazier’s body was discovered in an isolation cell about 11:30 p.m., Mullins said. He had last been checked about 10:50 p.m. and according to the log was alive and lying on his bunk. When his body was discovered, he had apparently hanged himself with bedsheets and his pants, the warden said.

A letter written by Frazier also was found, he said.

Frazier’s body is being sent to Jackson for autopsy, and the case remains under investigation.
