CORINTH – The Alcorn County Board of Supervisors approved more than $4,000 in expenditures for additional security at the tax collector’s office after report of a burglary in the Prentiss County tax collector’s office last week.

Tax Collector Larry Ross was approved to spend $3,790 for new security cameras in his office and about $500 to replace an inner door.

Ross and Sheriff Charles Rinehart have applied for a Homeland Security grant of more than $35,000 to install new cameras and security improvements throughout the courthouse, as well as a new safe in the tax collector’s office. They await approval of the grant, and Ross will reimburse the county general fund for these security enhancements if the grant is received.
