CORINTH – A man reported missing to the Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday morning was found dead about noon Wednesday in a creek, said Sheriff Charles Rinehart.

The body of Troy Lee Harrison Jr., 33, of County Road 729, Corinth, was recovered off C.R. 702 about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff said.

The investigation into the cause of death is ongoing, Rinehart said, but it appears at this time to be an accident.

Harrison reportedly had been drinking at the VFW according to witness reports, Rinehart said. He lived about a mile from the VFW post and may have been walking home when he fell off the concrete bridge, hitting his head and falling into the water where he may have drowned.

The body is being taken to Jackson for autopsy and conclusive cause of death, the sheriff said, but the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (662) 286-5521.
