Alcorn School District appoints assistant

Education stockCORINTH – The Alcorn County school board on Thursday appointed the superintendent’s recommendation to fill the post of assistant superintendent.

Ritchie Williams was approved unanimously to fill the position effective Aug. 1, said Superintendent Gina Rogers Smith. The office was left vacant when Wayne Henry retired to accept another position in Tennessee.

Williams, an Alcorn County native who attended Rienzi Elementary School and graduated from Biggersville High School, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Education from the University of Mississippi. He has worked the past seven years for Northeast Mississippi Community College, most recently in the position of dean of instruction for career and technical education.
