CORINTH — After a recent debris fire at the county landfill, Alcorn County is hauling in dirt to cover the area and is working on a plan to help prevent future fires.
The Daily Corinthian reports the fire was reported June 19 in an area of accumulated wood and brush debris. Its cause was not determined.
County supervisors met recent with the state Department of Environmental Quality about the fire.
Board President Lowell Hinton said state officials want a plan of action developed to handle possible future fires at the landfill.
Covering over the area burned in June is part of that plan, Hinton said.
