AMORY – John Smith, 27, Aberdeen, was arrested late Thursday night after an alleged robbery attempt at Huddle House in Amory, according to Amory Chief of Police Ronnie Bowen.
Smith is alleged to have ordered a meal at Huddle House. When it came time to pay, he produced a note demanding cash and give it to the cashier, who complied.
“He calmly walked out and left,” Bowen said, adding that witnesses were able to get his tag number and a description of the car, Bowen said.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office pursued the suspect into Aberdeen, where he was apprehended by the Aberdeen Police Department after abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
“We had him in custody at 3:27 a.m.,” Bowen said.
Formal charges have not been drawn up at this time.
