The Tishomingo man accused of the January murder of his cousin is set to appear in court early next week.
William “Monroe” Walden, 22, of 3055 County Road 961, will be arraigned in court on Monday, April 23, on a charge of murder. During his appearance, a judge will formally present the criminal charge against the suspect, who will then enter a plea of guilty or not guilty to that charge.
Walden is accused of the Jan. 20 shooting of his cousin, Rosa Ables, 30, at his mother’s residence at 327 Brown Road Northeast, Golden.
Walden allegedly shot his cousin, who was visiting from out of town, in the back with a 12-gauge shotgun after the two had an argument over narcotics.
Officials with the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department said Walden was sober at the time of the shooting. He allegedly confessed to the crime several days after his arrest.
Since his arrest, Walden has been held at the Itawamba County Jail on a $1 million bond. He was indicted by the Itawamba County Grand Jury on March 13.
