HAMILTON – An Amory man has been charged with murder in connection to the beating death of another Amory man.

Tommy Harlow, 50, of Amory, died at a residence on Church Road in Hamilton some time after midnight Sunday.

Christopher Lee Thompson, 46, of Amory was taken into custody Sunday and charged with murder Monday.

“We don’t know a motive, but we understand they were arguing. He didn’t know Mr. Harlow was deceased when he’d left the residence,” said Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

According to Cantrell, Thompson did not have any prior felonies on his record.

Harlow appeared to have been beaten to death. He was pronounced dead by Monroe County coroner Alan Gurley.

Harlow’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson for an official autopsy on Tuesday.

Thompson is currently being held in the Monroe County Detention Center and will appear for his initial court appearance Monday after at the Monroe County Justice Court.
