FULTON – A one-vehicle accident in Fulton Thursday morning resulted in the death of an Amory man.
James Rickey Murphy, 25, was pronounced dead on arrival by Itawamba County coroner Steven McNeece after suffering sever head trauma, caused by wrecking his vehicle into a telephone pole at approximately 6:45 a.m. on March 5.
According to McNeece, Murphy reportedly lost control of his vehicle while traveling northbound on Highway 25, causing him to steer off the road and into an embankment. Murphy’s vehicle flipped and hit a telephone pole. The telephone pole then broke in half and fell atop another vehicle, but did not injure the other driver.
McNeece added that Murphy was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
