'Angel’ actor Dye of Amory dies

Amory native and “Touched by an Angel” actor John Dye died on Monday.
According to reports, he was found dead at his California residence. He was 47 years old. He was the son of James and Lynn Dye.
A Tupelo High School graduate, Dye appeared in a variety of movies, including “Making the Grade,” “Modern Girls” and “Campus Man.”
He rose to fame by portraying Andrew “The Angel of Death” on “Touched by an Angel.” The popular show ran for nine seasons.
During that time, he returned to Tupelo and Amory on numerous occasions. He participated in the Stars Over Mississippi concerts, which raised millions of dollars for students in the state.
Funeral arrangements are pending, and a memorial service is being planned.
