Apartment complex donates weights to school

OXFORD – When Campus Walk Apartments updated its gym, it put its old equipment to good use. Its managers invited Jeff Nelson, athletic director for Lafayette County Schools, to take his pick.
The district ended up with weights and other equipment for athletes in the middle and high schools that would have cost an estimated $38,000 retail.
Nelson said the “new” equipment will enable more students to take weight training and facilitate the planned expansion of the high school gym. After this football season is over, the football team will move its own indoor training area
