Appeal denied in Union County man's gratification of lust case

JACKSON — A Union County man has lost his appeal of his convictions of sex crimes involving minors.

WTVA-TV reports a jury sentenced 65-year-old Johnny McCullough of Blue Springs to 15 years in prison after his conviction on two counts of gratification of lust in September 2009.

The jury acquitted him on five other counts.

In his appeal, McCullough questioned the weight of the evidence against him and the fact he was acquitted on some counts while convicted on others was inconsistent.

The state Court of Appeals upheld his convictions Tuesday saying each count was a separate case involving different events.
