TUPELO – A $152,000 federal grant will pay for healthy field trips for children in 12 distressed counties.
The grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, announced Friday by U.S. Rep. Travis Childers, D-Miss., will cover programming and travel costs to HealthWorks! in Tupelo for students in Benton, Chickasaw, Clay, Kemper, Marshall, Montgomery, Noxubee, Panola, Webster, Winston and Yalobusha counties.
The programs on healthy eating, exercise and illness management will touch about 5,000 students over two school years.
The Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi, the philanthropic arm of North Mississippi Health Services which oversees HealthWorks!, will administer the
NEMS Daily Journal
