TUPELO – Northeast Mississippi is expected to see some severe weather over the next couple of days, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis.
There’s a 50 percent chance of thunderstorm Friday and a 100 percent chance Saturday. But according to meteorologist Andy Sniezak, the area could get more than just heavy rains.
“There is a chance for large hail and a slight chance for tornadoes,” said Sniezak. “The conditions are pretty favorable for tornadoes, but that doesn’t mean the area will be hit by one. But there is a slight chance that should be taken seriously.”
The storm is expected to pass through the area Saturday evening. Sunday’s forecast is partly sunny with a high of 78 degrees.
