Armed robbery at Northeast Community College dorm

By Staff and school reports

BOONEVILLE – Officials at Northeast Mississippi Community College have confirmed an armed robbery took place on the Booneville campus early this morning.

“I can confirm that there was an armed robbery in White Hall (men’s dormitory) at 12:15 a.m. today,” said NEMCC Dean of Students Ricky Ford.

Ford said a student had just sold his car and had a large amount of cash on him. He was displaying this when later an unidentified male (non-student) entered the dorm room where a small number of students were present.

“The assailant displayed the weapon and demanded that the student turn over the cash,” Ford said. “The victim complied with the request. The investigation is continuing with the NEMCC Police Department and Booneville Police Department and we expect to have someone in custody very soon.”
