VERONA – An armed suspect kicked in the back door of the Verona Hardee’s early this morning, but Verona Police Chief Anthony Anderson said the suspect took nothing and quickly fled the scene.

“We know it wasn’t a robbery,” Anderson said. “The guy didn’t try to take anything. He kicked the back door in, pulled a gun, turned around and ran out.”

An employee may have been knocked down when the suspect kicked in the back door, but otherwise no one was hurt.

“He just looked around and then left,” Anderson said. “It sounds like it may have been a disgruntled employee, but he didn’t attempt to rob anyone or the business.”

Verona Police Investigator J.B. Long is going to monitor the Raymond Avenue Restaurant’s security video feed to better determined what happened and what charges need to be filed.
