Arrest made in slaying

ABERDEEN – A 34-year-old Aberdeen man faces manslaughter and burglary charges after a Hamilton man was found dead Friday, according to Monroe County Sheriff Andy Hood.
Ricky D. Otts, 34, of 50314 Athens Quincy Road has been arrested on charges of manslaughter and burglary of an occupied dwelling.
On Friday, Monroe County deputies were called to 40020 Stovall Crossing Road around 6 a.m. after a man’s body was found, according to Hood.
Coroner Alan Gurley identified the victim as Douglas Howell Thompson, 53, of Hamilton. An autopsy showed that the death was caused by multiple blows, and that Thompson died about 3 a.m.
Thompson allegedy got into a fight Thursday around 11:30 p.m. with Otts.
Otts is alleged to have gone to Thompson’s home and attacked him while he was in bed, leading to his death.
The case will be presented to the county grand jury in July.
