Arrest made in Starkville shooting

STARKVILLE — A Starkville man has been charged with aggravated assault in a shooting at a local apartment complex.

Police Lt. Troy Outlaw says 24-year-old Willie J. Hogan turned himself in Tuesday. Outlaw says Hogan is also charged with shooting into a dwelling. Hogan is being held in the Oktibbeha County jail pending an initial court appearance.

Outlaw says 24-year-old Gregory Dowd was shot in the chest during Monday’s incident. Dowd was in good condition Wednesday at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.

Outlaw says shots were fired from the complex’s parking lot, some of which went into the apartments.

The shooting remains under investigation.
