JACKSON — At least one person was treated at a hospital for minor injuries from the hail storm that hammered central Mississippi on Monday.
The storm also damaged dozens of homes and business and busted windows in police cars and other emergency vehicles around the Jackson metro area.
Authorities say it’s too early to know exactly how many cars and structures were damaged, but it appears to be widespread.
Rankin County Emergency Operations Director Bob Wedgeworth says more than 100 homes were damaged in one subdivision alone in his county.
There also were reports of busted windows at the Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield and the Clinton Fire Department.
University of Mississippi Medical Center spokesman Jack Mazurak says one person was treated for minor injuries and released.
