HOLLY SPRINGS — Officials have seized more than 90 small dogs and puppies after raiding a puppy mill in Holly Springs.
A team led by the Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals served a warrant on John and Nancy Garrison. The couple signed over custody of the animals to the officials. Charges against the couple are pending.
The Commercial Appeals reports several dead animals were found on the property.
Tim Rickey, the ASPCA’s senior director of field investigations and response, said the dogs and puppies, mostly small breeds such as Shih Tzus, Lhasa apsos, pugs, Yorkshire terriers, corgis and Chihuahuas, were discovered living in feces-encrusted pens.
