Authorities still searching for body of missing teen

Local authorities are still searching for a 14-year old Smithville teen who possibly drowned while swimming in the Buttahatchie River Friday.
According to Pickle Funeral Home of Amory, Taylor amp”T.O.amp” Smith died in a drowning accident Friday, May 15. However, as of Monday afternoon, no body had been recovered.
Smith and some friends were reportedly swimming near Cockerham Bridge Friday when Smith went underwater and did not return to the surface.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department began searching for Smith Friday afternoon and were assisted by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Hatley Fire Department Dive Team and the Columbus Fire Department Dive Team. The Desoto County Sheriff’s Department brought in a sonar device on Saturday. The search effort continued through out the weekend.
