Tupelo Water and Light employees Kerry Edwards, left, and Marty Dickinson reinstall a traffic light at the intersection on North Church and Jefferson streets on Monday, and they did the same at South Green and Magazine streets. The lights will blink for one week before being switched on to control traffic. Both intersections previously had lights, but they were removed two years ago in lieu of two-way stop signs at the request of the Tupelo Traffic Committee. After accident rates there more than doubled in that time, the committee last month recommended the lights be reinstalled.
