Back-to-school traffic to slow travel on U.S. 45

SALTILLO – Traffic on U.S. 45 in Saltillo will be restricted to one lane in each direction Thursday morning as law enforcement officials try to make travel safer for the first day back at school.
Saltillo Assistant Police Chief Scotty Clark said the lanes will be closed between the Euclatubba exit on the north to the Saltillo exit on the south. It will happen between 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
The city’s primary school and high school are located off of U.S. 45.
“People can expect delays,” Clark said. “We hate for the inconvenience, but it is safer for the people.”
Clark said police could repeat the procedure Friday morning but called it unlikely.
