Bailey named Saltillo Police Chief

By NEMS Daily Journal

SALTILLO – Police Sgt. Grant Bailey was promoted to Chief of Police Tuesday by the Saltillo Board of Aldermen.
Bailey has been in the department for his entire nine year career, serving as a sergeant since 2010, the department’s K-9 officer since 2012 and served as the DUI officer for four years.
Bailey has been acting as the department’s commanding office since June 12 because of the pending retirement of former Chief Steve Brooks and the suspension of Assistant Police Chief Prentiss Brown.
Along with promoting Bailey, the Saltillo Board of Alderman hired three part-time as-needed officers to assist the department as they transition.
Excluding the department’s two suspended officers, they no have six full-tim officers and six part-time and reserve officers.
