Baldwyn superintendent Harvey Brooks announced on Tuesday that he will retire at the end of the current school year.
Brooks is in his eighth year as the district’s superintendent and his 41st year as an educator. He’s also worked for schools in the Tishomingo County, Nettleton, Lee County, Calhoun County and Pontotoc County school districts.
“It is time for new blood,” Brooks said. “I have enjoyed it, and I think we have made some gains and the district has moved forward. I really appreciate the support that has come from the board and the district.”
Brooks, 61, said the district will begin advertising the appointed position at the end of this week or the beginning of next.
