Check your balance pronto if you bank with BancorpSouth.
An internal error at the bank caused some debit card transactions last night to be charged twice.
Here’s the info from the welcome page of BancorpSouthonline.com:
MESSAGE OF THE DAY
In reviewing your checking account activity, you may notice duplicate debit card transactions when used as a credit on 12/27/10. This was due to an internal error.
Please be advised credits will process to your account tonight to offset the duplicate posting. Any charges as a result of the duplicate posting will be refunded.
We apologize for this inconvenience.
12:15 p.m. UPDATE:
BancorpSouth is aware of the double-posting and will fix it tonight.
Randy Burchfield, a senior exec with the bank’s marketing department, said the accounts that were charged twice will be adjusted tonight.
He said overdraft charges will be refunded if they resulted from the double charges.
He said the bank’s call center is aware of the problem.
If customers have questions, they should call BancorpSouth’s hotline at (888) 797-7711.
