Barreto makes Marshals' 15 Most Wanted

By Errol Castens, NEMS Daily Journal

Janet Barreto, wanted in Union County on charges related to the death of one of her children and the abuse of others, has been named to the U.S. Marshals Service’s 15 Most Wanted list.

Barreto failed to show up in 2009 for her trial on Union County charges of child endangerment, child abuse, witness tampering and manslaughter. Since then she is also wanted on the federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for information leading to her arrest.

Ramon Barreto, Janet’s husband, also faces related charges.
