CORINTH — The Alcorn County School District is providing basic school supplies for students in kindergarten through fourth grade in all five local elementary schools.

Schools Superintendent Stacy Suggs says for the past two years the supplies have been provided to children in kindergarten.

Basic supplies furnished by the district include tablets, pencils, glue, scissors, crayons and other items. It doesn’t include such things as backpacks or teacher classroom supplies.

Supplies are expected to be at schools on the first day.

Suggs says the only items parents would need to purchase are what is called “specialty items” by the district such as a calculator, a protractor or a kindergarten mat.
