No. 15 Mississippi State is back home after Wednesday’s 54-52 loss to No. 6 Baylor. The Bulldogs (12-2) close out their non-SEC slate by hosting Utah State (8-5) at 2 p.m. today.
It’s the first meeting between the schools.
Point guard Dee Bost has a chance today to break the school record for assists in a career. The senior has 512, two behind leader Derrick Zimmerman, and is averaging 4.4 assists per game this season.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to accomplish since I’ve been here,” Bost said. “But more than anything, we need a win.”
Bost is also averaging 16.6 points per game, second on the team behind forward Arnett Moultrie’s 16.9.
Utah State last played on Dec. 22, defeating Kent State, 81-62. The Aggies have won four consecutive games and are led by Preston Medlin (14.3 ppg) and Brockeith Pane (11.2 ppg).
MSU will open SEC play a week from today at Arkansas.
