Beer vote signatures close in Tishomingo County

IUKA – The Tishomingo County circuit clerk’s office has received petitions for a countywide alcohol vote and will begin verifying signatures of registered voters.
Organizer Charles “Tubby” Aldridge said he turned in 2,364 signatures of 2,553 that he needs to force a vote on whether alcohol could become legal in the county.
Aldridge said he is working to gather more than the necessary number of signatures to force a vote on countywide beer sales.
Once the number of valid signatures of qualified electors is verified by the circuit clerk, the next step is for Aldridge to present his petitions to the Board of Supervisors, which must call an election.
