BELMONT – Harold Clarence Moore, 76, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, in Somerville, Tenn. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center.
Mary Faye Blackard
PONTOTOC – Mary Faye Berry Griffin Blackard, 62, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at the home of Barbara Fitts on Palestine Road in the Springville community. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Pearl Berry; a son, Matthew Griffin; three sisters, Nancy Carolyn Aaron, Barbara Fitts and Tammie Welch; and five brothers, Eugene Berry, George Berry, David Berry, Kenneth Berry and Rickey Berry.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Ardis Berry; a brother, Otis Wayne Berry; and a son, Patrick Luke Griffin.
BALDWYN – Daniel Roy “Dan” Dixon, 55, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. He was a 1975 graduate of Munford High School. He began his truck career in Memphis as a tire changer and mechanic and was currently the general manager and salesman for TAG Truck Center in Tupelo. He was a supporter of Boy Scouts of America. He and his four brothers were Eagle Scouts. He was a farmer and cattleman. He was the shooting instructor for Lee County 4-H. He was a member of the Mississippi Cattleman’s Association, Prentiss County Development Association and the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn. He enjoyed cooking for the Brotherhood and the Cattleman’s Association.
Services were Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn with Bro. Stanley Huddleston and Dr. Terry Cutrer officiating. Burial was in the Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Dixon; a daughter, Alicia Dixon; and a son, Jacob Dixon, all of the home; brothers, Randy Dixon (Julie) of Burlison, Tenn., Don Dixon (Rubye) of Munford, Tenn., and John Dixon (Sonya) of Memphis; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Margaret Dixon.
Pallbearers were Dan Bishop, Rod Burns, Jarred Cagle, Eddie Roberts, Bud Williams and Gary Greszler.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church-Baldwyn Building Fund or Boy Scouts of America.
Additional services will be at 2 p.m. today at Munford, Tenn., Funeral Home with visitation beginning at noon today.
PEACEFUL VALLEY – Sarah Ellene Thorn, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born May 23, 1924, to James Luther Reich and Edell Vaughn Reich. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dorsey. She worked at Charm Step in Fulton for many years. She enjoyed find-a-word puzzles and going to and hosting yard sales.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Kevin Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Maxey (Mike) of New Albany; two sons, Douglas Thorn (Wanda) of Fulton and Garvis Thorn of Hernando; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Sullivan Thorn of Becker; eight grandchildren, Eddie Thorn, Sarah Ellis, Gena Thorn, Shelly Howell, Brad Maxey, Jamie Hare, Jason Thorn and Jeremy Thorn; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Thorn; one son, Kenneth Thorn; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Beth Thorn; two sisters, Eleanor Hardin and Bertha Mae Baxter; five brothers, Otis Reich, William Reich, L.C. Reich, James Reich and Eugene Reich; and parents.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Friday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.

AMORY – Dottie Sue Knight Bennett, 76, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Center in Amory. Born Sept. 19, 1935, in Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Arnie Oliver and Susie Knight. She married James Calvin Bennett in 1951; he died in 1991. A woman of faith, she was a member of the East Amory Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed making and painting ceramics and shopping. Before her retirement, she worked at Amory Garment Co. and TPI Furniture and had worked in the gift shop at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Byron Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Pearce Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brent Harris, Bradley Harris, Stephen Bennett, Michael Scott Bennett, James Allen Bennett, Brandon Hendrix and Jason Hendrix.
Survivors include two daughters, Shelby McGarrh (Darrell) of Hatley and Sharon Harris (Jeff) of West Point; one son, Danny Bennett (Carrie Tucker) of Amory; one sister, Clara Mae King of Amory; 10 grandchildren, Brent Harris, Bradley Harris, Byron Harris, Stephen Bennett, Michael Scott Bennett, James Allen Bennett, Desiree’ Bennett, Brandon Hendrix, Jason Hendrix and Kristy Whitaker; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Karen Jo Bennett; and one son, Donny Bennett.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Friday evening and will continue until service time on Saturday.

BALDWYN – J.M. Alexander, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his home after a long illness. He enjoyed watching his granddaughter play softball, and he loved his church and family. He was retired after owning Alexander Heating and Cooling for more than 40 years. He was a member of Jericho Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue McGee Alexander of Jericho; one son, Tommy Alexander (Kathy) of Jericho; sisters, Annie Pearl Waters of Booneville and Lloyd Evelyn Laswell of Owensburg, Ky.; and a grandchild, Savannah Alexander of Jericho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.M. Alexander Sr. and Velma Childers Alexander; grandchild, Courtney Alexander; three brothers, Eland, Leroy and Bruce Alexander; and four sisters, Mary Ruth McClusky, Allene Outlaw, Virginia Rowan and Lula Mac Rowan.

BALDWYN – Charles S. Gordon, 77, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He retired from Prentiss County District 3. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Toby Mears officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, John Gordon (Teresa) of Auburn, Ala., and Tim Gordon (Kim) of Vernon, Ala.; special friend, Joy Tatum of Millport, Ala.; six grandchildren, Thomas Gordon, Candance G. Copeland (Anthony), Shane Gordon, Megan Gordon, Jaira Gordon and Jonathan Drew Gordon; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Copeland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Murray and Virginia Barnett Gordon.

BLUE SPRINGS – Clarice Rosa Nell Windham Bramlett, 83, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at her home. She was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Union County to the late William John and Mary Verna Garrett Windham. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved God and her family. She was a member of Parks Baptist Church and supported many Christian organizations.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Funeral Service with the Rev. Frank Wilder officiating. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Reed (Jerry) and Mary Jane Owens; two sons, Jon Bramlett and David Bramlett; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Bramlett; a daughter, Wanda Rodgers; a son, Josh Bramlett; two grandchildren, James M. Jamie Owens and Ashley Brooke Smith; two sisters, Ora Carter and Zelia Cooper; and nine brothers, Leon, Earshell, Wesley, Paul, Olen, Dewey, Layman, Rod and Linton Windham.

HOUSTON – Vina A. Harrington, 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at her residence. She was born June 2, 1932, in Chickasaw County to Doyle White and Ruby Bean White. After 21 years, she retired from Chickasaw County Dept. of Human Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church. An avid card player, she enjoyed her bridge clubs and members immensely.
