BELMONT – A national survey that annually gauges quality of life in each state named Belmont as runner-up in Mississippi’s “Best, Affordable Places to Raise Kids.”
Bloomberg Businessweek announced the 2010 ratings this week – with Senatobia taking first place in Mississippi – after evaluating 5,418 communities, based on low cost of living, good schools, a low crime rate and median family income within 20 percent of the state median.
“Although this is great news for us, we must not slack in our efforts to improve community appearance and community facilities and services, as well as creating more and better paying jobs for our citizens,” said Belmont Mayor Buddy Wiltshire.
