JACKSON – The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed the Senate version of a bicycle safety act named after a Tupelo teen who was struck and killed by a truck last year.
A similar version proposed by the House currently awaits full Senate passage. Legislators must then decide which version of the “John Paul Frerer Bicycle Safety Act” to send to the governor.
If it becomes law, it’d require motorists to provide a 3-foot buffer when passing bicyclists on the same road.
