A Biggersville firefighter was injured on the scene of a house fire Sunday afternoon, an official said.

It appeared the firefighter, whose name was not released, suffered first and second degree burns to his left forearm area, according to Biggersville Fire Chief Jonathan Rider.

Biggersville assisted with the house fire response, which occurred on County Road 627 in the Kossuth area.

It appeared the injured firefighter may have been trying to collect some family photos for the homeowner when a wall collapsed, Rider said. The injury occurred when the firefighters were in the “salvage and overhaul” portion of the response.

The injuries are described as minor. The firefighter was seen by an EMT on scene and was also taken to the Magnolia Regional Health Center and has been discharged from the hospital.
