The owner of Tupelo’s Mugshots franchise hopes to start construction next month.
Johnny Robbins today said he’s hired JNS Designs to do the interior design and Tek 1 Studio to do the architectural work.
Last year, he bought land on Main Street near the Renasant Center for IDEAs and across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn.
The proposed building is two stories with reclaimed brick, reclaimed glass and a metal roof. It will have indoor and outdoor seating.
On Thursday, Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association’s design committee gave initial approval to the exterior design. Robbins still must get approval from the Tupelo Redevelopment Agency, which governs Fairpark, and from the city’s permit department.
Once construction starts, he expects it will be about six months before the restaurant opens.
