Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America – aka TEMA – is being recognized for its ninth Toyota silver logoconsecutive Energy Star Partner of the Year award by the Environmental Protection Agency.
Toyota’s ninth Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award is the most among any automaker that assembles vehicles in the U.S and represents all of Toyota’s 13 manufacturing facilities in the region. The company said its efforts in the past 10 years have helped save $370 million and cut energy use by 15 percent per vehicle its produced – enough to power 27,000 average households for 10 years.
At Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi in Blue Springs, the automaker said its Model Sustainable Plant for North America “used innovative design and best practice techniques from other Toyota facilities to become the most energy efficient Toyota plant in North America. For example, its paint shop utilizes a unique system that eliminates the need for a paint oven and installed a low pressure adiabatic humidification system.
