Columbus biofuel plant breaks ground today

Press release from the Gov’s office:

COLUMBUS – Gov. Haley Barbour joined executives from KiOR and state and local officials today for a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of KiOR’s first commercial biofuel production facility in Columbus.

The company announced in August 2010 it would locate five biofuel production facilities throughout Mississippi, a company investment of $500 million that will create at least 1,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state.

“Starting right here in Columbus, KiOR will use our state’s abundant timber resources to help meet our country’s energy needs and create thousands of jobs for Mississippians,” Gov. Barbour said.

New pizzeria opens in Pontotoc

Main St. Pizza is now open in downtown Pontotoc.

Carl and Christine Wood are the owners of the two-month-old business. They moved down here from Pennsylvania to be closer to family.

The restaurant specializes in homemade, handtossed pizzas. Carl tosses the crust in the open kitchen right in front of you.

And, the Woods make their own sauce and cut their own toppings.

Medium pizza is $8.99. Large is $10.50.

The address is 5 S. Main Street, across the street from The Gift Shop.
