BIZ BUZZ: First Silver Airways flight from Tupelo delayed

Weather has delayed Silver Airways’ first flight from Tupelo to Atlanta this morning.

I was going to fly on the 7:10 a.m flight to ATL, along with Tupelo Mayor Jack Reed Jr., Tupelo Regional Airport Executive Director Josh Abramson, airport board members Ty Robinson and Fred Cook and WCBI reporter Allie Martin, but we’ll have to catch a flight another time.

But there were 12 other passengers waiting for the next Silver flight to come in to take them on to Atlanta.

Originally, the flight was going to come from Greenville, but that flight was cancelled last night because of the weather. So, Silver was going to send a plane from Meridian (where it also provides service), but weather has delayed that flight, too.

It was supposed to be here at 9:40, but that didn’t happen. And as of now, about 10:45, the plane is still in Meridian.

A Silver rep came out and told the remaining passengers that Silver would rebook their flights with Delta.

So, I can’t give you a first-hand account yet of the flight to and from Atlanta, but hopefully I will sooner or later.

By the way, the passengers I talked to had booked their flights through Delta weeks earlier, and Delta had called and emailed all of them of the transition from Delta to Silver service, which officially began today.
