Biz Buzz: Goody’s opening in former Corinth Belk store

By Dennis Seid/NEMS Daily Journal

Goody’s, a department store brand owned by Stage Stores, is opening in Corinth on April 18, as this sign on the door shows.

Thanks to fellow Daily Journal Corinth Bureau reporter Lena Mitchell for the assist.

Stage Stores’ brands also include Peebles, Bealles, Palais Royal and Stage.

The store manager, Jason Smith, said Goody’s is hiring 50 temporary workers for the grand opening, and will retain 12-20 once things settle down.

The store, in the former Belk in the Southgate shopping center, covers some 35,000 square feet, about twice as large as most other Goody’s stores, Smith said.
